Guangdong province is expecting to join hands with the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions to give full play to their respective strengths and advantages to accelerate the construction of a world-class and well-developed Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.

Huang Kunming, a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, said the 20th CPC National Congress has mapped out the blueprint for development of the GBA, highlighting the promising future of the GBA.

He said Guangdong would join hands with Hong Kong and Macao to explore the great potential of development of the GBA.

Huang, also Party secretary of Guangdong province, made his remarks while meeting a high-level media delegation from Hong Kong in Guangzhou on Friday. The delegation involving 18 media outlets will visit Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Dongguan and major cities in the Pearl River delta during the three-day visit in Guangdong.

Huang said Guangdong will construct the major cooperation platforms, including Hengqin, Qianhai and Nansha, located in Zhuhai, Shenzhen and Guangzhou respectively, to help build and create an international, market-oriented and legalized business environment to expand cooperation with the two SARs in the coming years.

The construction of the GBA will provide richer materials and a broader stage for the mainstream media from Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao to tell stories on the GBA development and demonstrate the good image and development prospects of the GBA to the world, he said.

Huang urged media from the three regions to further advance exchanges and cooperation to vigorously report the major deployment and progress of the GBA construction and truly reflect the real social and economic development of the GBA.

Construction and development of the GBA has offered a myriad of opportunities and brought real benefits to people in Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao, especially youths in innovation and entrepreneurship, he said.

Huang said media from Hong Kong could guide the young from the SARs to engage in the construction of the GBA and integrate into the country's overall development.

Media from Hong Kong and Macao should frequently visit Guangdong to understand more about the new changes in the province, he said. The media can launch more cultural exchange activities to help promote cultural integration between Guangdong and Hong Kong.

The GBA includes nine Guangdong cities — Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Foshan, Zhuhai, Dongguan, Zhongshan, Huizhou, Jiangmen and Zhaoqing, plus Hong Kong and Macao.
