A total of 28 out of 31 province-level regions in the Chinese mainland saw an increase in the year-on-year growth rate of the consumer price index in September compared with that in August, the Economic View, a new media hosted by China News Service, reported on Tuesday.

The Economic View found it noteworthy that, based on the data from the National Bureau of Statistics, the CPI's year-on-year growth rates of only three regions of Hainan, Guangxi and Shaanxi were lower than theirs in August. While the number for the drop in CPI growth in August was 23.

Among the 31 regions, Sichuan saw the highest year-on-year CPI growth in September while Beijing saw the lowest.

Wang Qing, chief analyst at the Golden Credit Rating, said the CPI growth in September was mainly attributed to the hike of pork and vegetable prices.

Wang added that although there is certain room for a pork price hike, it is in a downturn trend against the background of the release of the central reserve pork. In October, the price rise of vegetables will be significantly narrowed as well due to weather factors. September possibly saw the year's peak for CPI growth.
