July 24: Daily briefing on novel coronavirus cases in China

On July 23, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 129 new cases of confirmed infections (42 imported cases, 13 in Guangdong province, 7 in Shanghai municipality, 6 in Fujian province, 4 in Shandong province, 2 in Beijing municipality, 2 in Tianjin municipality, 2 in Zhejiang province, 2 in Sichuan province, 2 in Yunnan province, 1 Jiangsu province and 1 in Shaanxi province, including 7 confirmed cases converting from asymptomatic cases, 4 in Guangdong province, 2 Shandong province and 1 in Tianjin municipality; 87 indigenous cases, 26 in Gansu province, 23 in Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, 18 in Sichuan province, 11 in Guangdong province, 3 in Shanghai municipality, 3 in Jiangxi province and 3 in Chongqing municipality, including 30 confirmed cases converting from asymptomatic cases, 17 in Gansu province, 9 in Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, 3 in Sichuan province and 1 in Guangdong province), no deaths, and no new cases of suspected infections.

On July 23, 123 patients were released from hospital after being cured (47 imported cases; 76 indigenous cases, 24 in Guangdong province, 11 in Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, 10 in Gansu province, 6 in Anhui province, 6 in Jiangxi province, 4 in Shanghai municipality, 4 in Fujian province, 3 in Shandong province, 2 in Inner Mongolia autonomous region, 2 in Jiangsu province, 2 in Hainan province, 1 in Tianjin municipality and 1 in Henan province). 10,132 people who had had close contact with infected patients were freed from medical observation. The number of serious cases increased by 6.

As of 24:00 on July 23, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland had reported 20,360 cases of imported confirmed infections and no deaths. In all, 19,831 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 529 confirmed cases (no cases in serious condition) and 3 suspected cases.

As of 24:00 on July 23, the National Health Commission had received reports of 228,648 confirmed cases and 5,226 deaths in 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland, and in all 221,665 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 1,757 confirmed cases (including 20 cases in serious condition) and 3 suspected cases. 4,543,893 people had been identified as having had close contact with infected patients. 108,958 were still under medical observation.

On July 23, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 853 new asymptomatic cases (71 imported cases; 782 indigenous cases, 335 in Gansu province, 325 in Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, 33 in Sichuan province, 21 in Shanghai municipality, 17 in Henan province, 15 in Yunnan province, 11 in Anhui province, 10 in Guangdong province, 7 in Jiangxi province, 3 in Tianjin municipality, 3 in Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region, 1 in Liaoning province and 1 in Chongqing municipality).

On July 23, 311 asymptomatic cases were freed from medical observation (43 imported cases; 268 indigenous cases, 55 in Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, 44 in Shanghai municipality, 36 in Shandong province, 34 in Gansu province, 27 in Anhui province, 26 in Henan province, 24 in Jiangsu province, 7 in Fujian province, 6 in Guangdong province, 5 in Jiangxi province and 4 in Hainan province). 37 asymptomatic cases became confirmed cases (including 7 imported cases). As of 24:00 on July 23, 6,288 asymptomatic cases were still under medical observation (including 465 imported cases).

As of 24:00 on July 23, 4,759,616 confirmed infections had been reported in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan province: 349,976 in Hong Kong (9,461 had died and 66,506 had been cured and discharged from hospital), 783 in Macao (6 had died and 413 had been cured and discharged from hospital) and 4,408,857 in Taiwan (8,531 had died and 13,742 had been cured and discharged from hospital).
