July 22: Daily briefing on novel coronavirus cases in China

On July 21, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 175 new cases of confirmed infections (69 imported cases, 33 in Guangdong province, 10 in Fujian province, 9 in Shanghai municipality, 8 in Sichuan province, 3 in Beijing municipality, 2 in Tianjin municipality, 2 in Inner Mongolia autonomous region, 1 in Zhejiang province and 1 in Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, including 10 confirmed cases converting from asymptomatic cases, 4 in Guangdong province, 1 in Tianjin municipality, 1 in Inner Mongolia autonomous region, 1 in Zhejiang province, 1 in Fujian province, 1 in Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region and 1 in Sichuan province; 106 indigenous cases, 52 in Gansu province, 21 in Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, 10 in Guangdong province, 8 in Anhui province, 6 in Sichuan province, 5 in Chongqing municipality, 3 in Shanghai municipality and 1 in Jiangxi province, including 21 confirmed cases converting from asymptomatic cases, 13 in Gansu province, 2 in Guangdong province, 2 in Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, 2 in Chongqing municipality, 1 in Anhui province and 1 in Sichuan province), no deaths, and no new cases of suspected infections.

On July 21, 106 patients were released from hospital after being cured (49 imported cases; 57 indigenous cases, 13 in Guangdong province, 10 in Shanghai municipality, 9 in Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, 6 in Anhui province, 6 in Gansu province, 3 in Jiangxi province, 2 in Jiangsu province, 2 in Shandong province, 1 in Beijing municipality, 1 in Inner Mongolia autonomous region, 1 in Zhejiang province, 1 in Hainan province, 1 in Shaanxi province and 1 in Qinghai province). 12,453 people who had had close contact with infected patients were freed from medical observation. The number of serious cases increased by 4.

As of 24:00 on July 21, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland had reported 20,282 cases of imported confirmed infections and no deaths. In all, 19,752 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 530 confirmed cases (no serious cases) and no suspected cases.

As of 24:00 on July 21, the National Health Commission had received reports of 228,355 confirmed cases and 5,226 deaths in 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland, and in all 221,445 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 1,684 confirmed cases (8 cases in serious condition) and no suspected cases. 4,512,399 people had been identified as having had close contact with infected patients. 107,393 were still under medical observation.

On July 21, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 836 new asymptomatic cases (62 imported cases; 774 indigenous cases, 517 in Gansu province, 132 in Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, 44 in Anhui province, 20 in Henan province, 15 in Shanghai municipality, 13 in Guangdong province, 13 in Sichuan province, 10 in Tianjin municipality, 4 in Jiangxi province, 3 in Yunnan province, 2 in Jilin province and 1 in Chongqing municipality).

On July 21, 367 asymptomatic cases were freed from medical observation (42 imported cases; 325 indigenous cases, 96 in Shandong province, 70 in Shanghai municipality, 61 in Anhui province, 33 in Jiangsu province, 19 in Gansu province, 18 in Henan province, 14 in Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, 5 in Jiangxi province, 5 in Guangdong province, 1 in Zhejiang province, 1 in Fujian province, 1 in Hainan province and 1 in Sichuan province). 31 asymptomatic cases became confirmed cases (including 10 imported cases). As of 24:00 on July 21, 5,481 asymptomatic cases were still under medical observation (including 428 imported cases).

As of 24:00 on July 21, 4,711,549 confirmed infections had been reported in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan province: 348,541 in Hong Kong (9,448 had died and 66,187 had been cured and discharged from hospital), 781 in Macao (6 had died and 330 had been cured and discharged from hospital) and 4,362,227 in Taiwan (8,392 had died and 13,742 had been cured and discharged from hospital).
