March 1: Daily briefing on novel coronavirus cases in China

On Feb 28, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 200 new cases of confirmed infections (125 imported cases, 44 in Guangdong province, 40 in Shanghai municipality, 12 in Beijing municipality, 8 in Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, 4 in Chongqing municipality, 4 in Yunnan province, 3 in Fujian province, 3 in Shandong province, 2 in Jiangsu province, 2 in Sichuan province, 1 in Tianjin municipality, 1 in Anhui province and 1 in Hubei province, including 10 confirmed cases converting from asymptomatic cases, 4 in Guangdong, 2 in Beijing, 2 in Guangxi, 1 in Shandong and 1 in Sichuan; 75 indigenous cases, 31 in Guangdong including 23 in Shenzhen, 7 in Dongguan and 1 in Zhongshan, 14 in Inner Mongolia autonomous region including 13 in Hohhot and 1 in Baotou, 6 in Tianjin including 4 in Binhai New Area and 2 in Dongli district, 6 in Fangchenggang, Guangxi, 6 in Yunnan including 5 in Dehong Dai and Jingpo autonomous prefecture and 1 in Lincang, 4 in Heilongjiang province including 3 in Mudanjiang and 1 in Jixi, 3 in Suzhou, Jiangsu, 2 in Wuhan, Hubei, 1 in Jinzhong, Shanxi province, 1 in Sanya, Hainan province and 1 in Chengdu, Sichuan, including 3 confirmed cases converting from asymptomatic cases, 2 in Tianjin and 1 in Heilongjiang), 9 new cases of suspected infections (including 8 imported cases in Shanghai and 1 indigenous case in Inner Mongolia), and no deaths. 81 patients were released from hospital after being cured. 4,762 people who had had close contact with infected patients were freed from medical observation. Serious cases decreased by 2.

As of 24:00 on Feb 28, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland had reported 14,464 cases of imported confirmed infections and no deaths. In all, 12,854 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 1,610 confirmed cases (including 1 case in serious condition) and 10 suspected cases.

As of 24:00 on Feb 28, the National Health Commission had received reports of 109,526 confirmed cases and 4,636 deaths in 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland, and in all 102,017 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 2,873 confirmed cases (including 19 cases in serious condition) and 11 suspected cases. 1,641,681 people had been identified as having had close contact with infected patients. 78,842 were still under medical observation.

On Feb 28, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 144 new asymptomatic cases (102 imported cases; 42 indigenous cases, 25 in Guangdong including 20 in Dongguan and 5 in Shenzhen, 6 in Yunnan including 3 in Lincang, 2 in Dehong Dai and Jingpo autonomous prefecture and 1 in Honghe Hani and Yi autonomous prefecture, 5 in Heilongjiang including 4 in Mudanjiang and 1 in Jiamusi, 3 in Pudong New Area, Shanghai, 1 in Yantai, Shandong, 1 in Wuhan, Hubei and 1 in Chengdu, Sichuan). 40 asymptomatic cases were freed from medical observation (including 32 imported cases) and 13 asymptomatic cases became confirmed cases (including 10 imported cases). As of 24:00 on Feb 28, 1,097 asymptomatic cases were still under medical observation (including 825 imported cases).

As of 24:00 on Feb 28, 100,691 confirmed infections had been reported in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan province: 80,121 in Hong Kong (744 had died and 18,926 had been cured and discharged from hospital), 81 in Macao (79 had been cured and discharged from hospital) and 20,489 in Taiwan (853 had died and 13,742 had been cured and discharged from hospital).
