Covering about 16,000 square meters, He Art Museum in Shunde, Guangdong province was designed by Japanese Pritzker Prize winner Tadao Ando, who presents his work with the use of concrete while incorporating various natural elements including light, water and wind. The context of the design is the architectural culture of the typical Lingnan, or the area south of the "Five Peaks", which refers to today's Guangdong, Guangxi, Hainan and the two special administrative regions of Hong Kong and Macao.

He, the name of the museum, means harmony, balance, wealth, and union. With more than 500 artworks, including paintings, calligraphy, photography, and sculpture, this privately-owned museum was designed to convey just that message to the public.

The launch exhibition celebrating the opening of the museum, From the Mundane World, attempts to develop two perspectives, the "Mundane World" and its objects, and the human world, which includes the space inhabited by human beings, and time, material, energy, and speed. The phrase used at the exhibition “The things from said world” refers to the landscape and items in the mundane world in the context of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. In that context, any exhibition that deals with the problems of human civilization must be increasingly relevant and realistic.
