According to the Hechi poverty alleviation office, since the beginning of this year, the city's consumption-driven poverty alleviation sales have exceeded 1.4 billion yuan ($205.3 million), completing 134 percent of its target for the year.

Consumption is an important way for the public to participate in poverty alleviation efforts, and can make great contributions to the fight against poverty.

On Sept 9, a live streaming activity to promote Hechi poverty alleviation products was launched in Du'an Yao autonomous county and attracted more than 500,000 viewers that placed orders within an hour, generating more than 1 million yuan in sales.

From Sept 16 to 17, the 2020 Walnut Harvest Festival was held in Fengshan county and achieved sales of 100,000 yuan on site. In addition, a number of agricultural enterprises, cooperatives, and merchants also signed sales orders.

The novel coronavirus (COVID-19) epidemic has severely affected the production and sales of poverty alleviation products, causing great difficulties for the development of poverty alleviation industries and the increase of people's incomes.

In order to solve the problem of unsalable agricultural products, Hechi has taken prompt and effective measures to stabilize production and stimulate consumption, as well as to further improve the enthusiasm of agricultural enterprises and cooperatives in production.

During the COVID-19 epidemic, Hechi organized nearly 100 agricultural enterprises, rural e-commerce enterprises, social organizations, as well as government agencies and institutions to participate in the large-scale procurement activities of poverty alleviation products. Moreover, Shenzhen, Guangdong province has allocated 2.5 million yuan to provide logistics subsidies to enterprises in Hechi to transport and sell agricultural and sideline products to Shenzhen.

A total of 15 special agricultural products have been recognized by Shenzhen and have entered the Shenzhen market, as well as the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.
