The Third Digital China Summit is scheduled to be held from Oct 12 to 14 in Fuzhou, capital of Fujian province, according to a news conference held by the State Council Information Office on Sept 17.

This year's event will be jointly organized by the Cyberspace Administration of China (CAC), the National Development and Reform Commission, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, and the Fujian Provincial People's Government.

At this year's summit, which has the tagline "Innovation drives digital transformation; Intelligence promotes high quality development", visitors will experience the latest digital and information technology.

Yang Xiaowei, deputy director of the CAC, said that the event is expected to consist of seven parts, including an opening ceremony, a main forum, a parallel session, and an expo showcasing China's achievements in the construction of a "digital China".

Yang said that the country's digital economy has grown rapidly in the past year, with its added economic value hitting 35.8 trillion yuan ($5.29 trillion) in 2019, accounting for 36.2 percent of the country's total GDP.

Zhao Long, vice-governor of Fujian, said that this year's event will be held both online and offline, and will focus on advanced technologies and intellectualization. Advanced technologies such as cloud computing, virtual reality, and artificial intelligence will showcase the significant progress the country has made in digital economy and innovation.

In addition, a variety of activities will be held to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the construction of a "digital Fujian", and the provinces of Hainan, Shandong, and Henan will be invited to act as guest provinces of honor. An open platform will also be set up during the event to strengthen cooperation between governments and enterprises in an effort to promote the signing of agreements for projects related to the digital economy, according to Zhao.
