Dongji Island in Zhoushan, East China's Zhejiang province, was listed as the 10th most popular tourist destination online in China by the People's Cultural Tourism Development Institute of the People's Daily, local media reported recently.

Dongji is home to many fishermen and has a scenic island landscape.

Taking a boat east from Shenjiamen Wharf, tourists will notice the color of the sea changing from yellow to olivine, blackish green, blue green, and azure blue.

Dongji Island consists of 28 islands and 108 reefs, with Miaozihu Island, Qingbang Island, Dongfushan Island, and Huangxing Island being the most famous.

Tourists can travel to a number of different islands near the main Dongji Island. Miaozihu Island is particularly lively with a relatively large population, while Qingbang Island is serene and far away from the madding crowd.

Must-do things on Dongji:

Admire the sunshine on the Chinese mainland;

See the glowing "blue tears"; (A blue tear is a type of sea algae that is bio-luminescent. Their fluorescent blue glow is especially prominent.)

Relax on the rocks;

Watch the sunset.
