Zhejiang University (ZJU) in Hangzhou, capital of Zhejiang province, started building a training center and pilot laboratory in Quzhou, Zhejiang on July 18, according to local media reports.

Both the ZJU training center for engineering faculty and the pilot laboratory of the university's Quzhou Institute were transformed from factories in the high-tech industry park of the Quzhou Green Industry Clustering Zone.

The two projects cover an area of 26,118 square meters and will include a training building, three warehouses, four workshops, and a circulating pool for fire fighting.

The management committee of the Quzhou Green Industry Clustering Zone is responsible for the construction, which carries a price tag of 100 million yuan ($14.28 million). This includes dismantling the original building, constructing new buildings, decorating, afforesting, and paving pipelines and roads, all of which is expected to be completed by the end of 2021.

ZJU's Quzhou Institute is responsible for the purchase, installment and debugging of equipment with an estimated investment of 138.5 million yuan.

The two facilities are expected to cultivate more high-level technological personnel for Quzhou, train technical employees for local companies, assist Quzhou University in teaching, research and discipline, and promote the upgrading and transformation of Quzhou companies in a bid to become an innovation and entrepreneurship platform featuring education, research, commercialization of research results, and technical training.
