July 2: Daily briefing on novel coronavirus cases in China

On July 1, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 3 new cases of confirmed infections (1 indigenous case in Beijing municipality; 2 imported cases, 1 in Shanghai municipality and 1 in Guangdong province), no new cases of suspected infections and no deaths. 8 patients were released from hospital after being cured. 754 people who had had close contact with infected patients were freed from medical observation. The number of serious cases remained unchanged.

As of 24:00 on July 1, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland had reported 1,920 cases of imported confirmed infections and no deaths. In all, 1,845 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 75 confirmed cases (no cases in serious condition) and 1 suspected case.

As of 24:00 on July 1, the National Health Commission had received reports of 83,537 confirmed cases and 4,634 deaths in 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland, and in all 78,487 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 416 confirmed cases (including 7 cases in serious condition) and 5 suspected cases. 762,940 people had been identified as having had close contact with infected patients. 5,910 were still under medical observation.

On July 1, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 2 new asymptomatic cases (both were indigenous cases). 3 asymptomatic cases (all were imported cases) were freed from medical observation and no asymptomatic cases became confirmed cases. As of 24:00 on July 1, 99 asymptomatic cases were still under medical observation (including 60 imported cases).

As of 24:00 on July 1, 1,726 confirmed infections had been reported in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan province: 1,233 in Hong Kong (7 had died and 1,117 had been cured and discharged from hospital), 46 in Macao (45 had been cured and discharged from hospital) and 447 in Taiwan (7 had died and 438 had been cured and discharged from hospital).
