Baotou customs boosts its services

Baotou customs has been making every effort to ensure the smooth import of bulk resource commodities such as coal and iron ore, while strengthening its novel coronavirus epidemic prevention and control measures, according to May 25 reports in the Baotou Evening News.

Officials from the city in North China’s Inner Mongolia autonomous region said Baotou customs has comprehensively implemented strict sanitation and quarantine and other measures, as well as sped up customs clearances, inspections and testing.

Recently, 1,280 tons of iron ore imported from the neighboring country of Mongolia by Inner Mongolia Naren Zhuge Energy Co underwent customs clearance at Mandula Port in Baotou city.

In accordance with its requirements, the on-site officers at Baotou customs carried out on-site inspection operations such as radioactive detection and weight measurements.

In less than an hour, the company had unloaded the imported iron ore and removed it from the customs supervision station.

Officials said Baotou customs has optimized the supervision station at Mandula Port, set up a temperature monitoring room, a pre-examination area and a health declaration card processing area.

For people entering Mandula Port from abroad, body temperature measurements and a health declaration card verification are required.

Officials said customs is now carrying out peak operations for cross-border transportation vehicles more efficiently, has speeded up its unloading times and extended working hours -- to ensure that freight vehicles can return from the port after unloading on the same day.
