May 25: Daily briefing on novel coronavirus cases in China

On May 24, 31 provincial-level regions on the Chinese mainland as well as the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps reported 11 new cases of confirmed infections (all are imported cases, 10 in Inner Mongolia autonomous region and 1 in Sichuan province), no new cases of suspected infections, and no deaths. 7 patients were released from hospital after being cured. 461 people who had had close contact with infected patients were freed from medical observation. Serious cases decreased by 1.

As of 24:00 on May 24, 31 provincial-level regions on the Chinese mainland as well as the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps had reported 1,724 cases of imported confirmed infections and no deaths. In all, 1,678 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 46 confirmed cases (including 1 in serious condition) and 5 suspected cases.

As of 24:00 on May 24, the National Health Commission had received reports of 82,985 confirmed cases and 4,634 deaths in 31 provincial-level regions on the Chinese mainland and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps, and in all 78,268 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 83 confirmed cases (including 7 in serious condition) and 6 suspected cases. So far, 742,506 people have been identified as having had close contact with infected patients. 5,152 are now under medical observation.

On May 24, 31 provincial-level regions on the Chinese mainland as well as the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps reported 40 new asymptomatic cases (including 2 imported cases). 15 asymptomatic cases were freed from medical observation (including 2 imported cases) and no asymptomatic cases became confirmed cases. As of 24:00 on May 24, 396 asymptomatic cases were still under medical observation (including 28 imported cases).

As of 24:00 on May 24, 1,551 confirmed infections had been reported in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan province: 1,065 in Hong Kong (4 had been dead and 1,030 had been cured and discharged from hospital), 45 in Macao (all had been cured and discharged from hospital) and 441 in Taiwan (7 had been dead and 414 had been cured and discharged from hospital).
