A forum was held on May 6 in Hohhot -- capital city of North China’s Inner Mongolia autonomous region -- themed on the development of digital economy and the construction of a smart city, Hohhot Daily reported.

Officials and enterprises’ representatives were invited to discuss and exchange views on issues concerning the development of digital economy-related industries, technological applications and the construction of new infrastructure projects.

Representatives from major domestic companies -- including China Mobile Inner Mongolia Branch, Alibaba Group and Huawei -- delivered speeches at the forum. Executives explained their respective industrial planning, project operations, and development capabilities. They also presented specific working ideas and suggestions for the development of the digital economy and the construction of a smart city in Hohhot.

Zhang Baicheng, mayor of Hohhot, welcomed guests and expressed his gratitude to all departments and companies for their long-term support for the economic and social development of the city.

Zhang said that Hohhot, as one of the country's third batch of pilot new-type smart cities, will continue to make strides in data opening, sharing, applications and the construction of new infrastructure.

The mayor also called for further cooperation between government departments and companies, to promote the high-quality development of Hohhot’s digital economy and build the city into a high-level smart city through their joint efforts.
