To reverse the impact of the novel coronarivus epidemic on the economy, the government of Ejin Horo Banner in Ordos in North China’s Inner Mongolia autonomous region plans to invest 10 million yuan ($1.41 million) to boost consumer spending, by issuing electronic purchasing vouchers, according to local officials.

The electronic vouchers will target local residents and migrant workers and the initiative, which will be rolled out in five phases, will run from April 8 to May 8. The first phase takes place on April 8-14.

A total of 333,300 electronic catering coupons will be issued in the first phrase, each with a face value of 6 yuan. The total value amounts to 2 million yuan.

Resident e-vouchers will not be exchanged for cash or change and will be automatically voided after the expiration of the event.

The funds deposited in overdue unused consumption vouchers in this phase will be automatically carried forward to the next period and will continue to be issued.

The procedures for obtaining and using the electronic consumer vouchers are as follows:

1. Residents can obtain the right to use e-vouchers after completing real-name authentication the "Shejian 720" app through the WeChat platform.

2. Consumers present the corresponding voucher redemption code after eating at restaurants.

3. For every 20 yuan spent by consumers, one e-voucher of 6 yuan can be used. E-vouchers can be used alone or in stacks, but each consumer can only use 50 e-voucher during one phase, that is, the maximum is not more than 300 yuan.

Officials said subsequent consumption voucher issuances will be arranged according to the situation.
