A total of 470 companies in the Dongsheng district of Ordos in North China’s Inner Mongolia autonomous region went back to work on March 3, with the production rate hitting 72.73 percent, according to local officials.

Of these, the number of industrial companies above a designed size -- those with an annual sales revenue of 20 million yuan ($2.86 million) or more — resuming operations and production reached 40.

Officials said that non-labor-intensive and technology based manufacturing concerns are also gradually returning to work after passing inspections and getting the green light.

They said that in order to prevent and control the further spread of the novel coronavirus, companies are implementing strict virus measures to guarantee employees’ health safety and normal output.

After Ordos Mengchun Dairy Co restarted operations, for example, its staff were required to take a temperature test twice daily and they also must be disinfected twice every day.

Meanwhile, employees from places outside Ordos will need a 14-day quarantine observation period before getting back on the job.

Dan Zhichao, manager of Ordos Mengchun Dairy Co, said that on Feb 13 his company had restored 30 percent of its normal production.

Dan said the work resumption rate of its employees had reached around 50 percent and about 5 metric tons of fresh milk were being processed every day.
