The Linjia tunnel in Laiwu district, at 4,350 meters long, is the longest tunnel along the railway and a crucial part of the construction process. The tunnel is designed as a double-line tunnel and can accommodate trains operating at speeds of up to 350 kilometers per hour.

Construction on Jinan-Laiwu high-speed railway began on Sept 18, 2019 and was considered an important part of improving Jinan's transportation system.

The railway consists of six stations, starting at Jinan East Railway Station and ending at Gangcheng Station, and has an overall length of 117.5 kilometers.

The railway will facilitate transportation in Jinan and form a two-hour transportation circle covering the cities of Jinan, Binzhou, Dezhuo, Liaocheng, Linyi and Qingdao.

To ensure its timely completion, 628 workers and 61 sets of machines have been working day and night. Linjia tunnel is expected to open in November, 2021.
