April 3: Daily briefing on novel coronavirus cases in China

On April 2, 31 provincial-level regions on the Chinese mainland as well as the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps reported 31 new cases of confirmed infections (29 imported cases and 2 indigenous cases in Liaoning and Guangdong provinces), 12 new cases of suspected infections (all are imported cases), and 4 deaths (all in Hubei province). 163 patients were released from hospital after being cured. 1,990 people who had had close contact with infected patients were freed from medical observation. Serious cases decreased by 50.

As of 24:00 on April 2, 31 provincial-level regions on the Chinese mainland as well as the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps had reported 870 cases of imported confirmed infections and no deaths. In all, 160 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 710 confirmed cases (including 19 in serious condition) and 135 suspected cases.

As of 24:00 on April 2, the National Health Commission had received 81,620 reports of confirmed cases and 3,322 deaths in 31 provincial-level regions on the Chinese mainland and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps, and in all 76,571 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 1,727 confirmed cases (including 379 in serious condition) and 135 suspected cases. So far, 710,985 people have been identified as having had close contact with infected patients. 19,533 are now under medical observation.

On April 2, Hubei reported no new cases of confirmed infections, no new cases of suspected infections, and 4 deaths (all in Wuhan). 141 patients (all in Wuhan) were released from hospital after being cured.

As of 24:00 on April 2, Hubei had reported 67,802 cases of confirmed infections (including 50,007 in Wuhan) and 3,203 deaths (including 2,563 in Wuhan). In all, 63,612 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital, including 46,461 in Wuhan. There still remained 987 confirmed cases (including 983 in Wuhan), with 349 in serious condition (including 346 in Wuhan). There were no suspected cases.

On April 2, 31 provincial-level regions on the Chinese mainland as well as the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps reported 60 new asymptomatic cases (including 7 imported cases). 101 asymptomatic cases were freed from quarantine (including 5 imported cases) and 7 became confirmed cases (all are imported cases). As of 24:00 on April 2, 1,027 asymptomatic cases were still under medical observation (including 221 imported cases).

As of 24:00 on April 2, 1,182 confirmed infections had been reported in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan province: 802 in Hong Kong (4 had been dead and 154 had been cured and discharged from hospital), 41 in Macao (10 had been cured and discharged from hospital) and 339 in Taiwan (5 had been dead and 50 had been cured and discharged from hospital).
