Shinan district in Qingdao, Shandong province is promoting more projects and working to attract investment in order to develop its headquarters economy.

Over the first 10 months of this year, the district has launched eight projects valued at over 100 million yuan ($14.21 million) each, while six such projects have been completed.

The Qingdao Guoxin Haitian Center, which is currently under construction, is expected to become a famous landmark of the city and attract more high-quality and influential cooperative projects. The Qingdao Center of the Sino-International Entrepreneurs Federation has already announced that it will set up operations at the Haitian center.

The total area of high-end commercial buildings in Shinan is expected to increase by about 1 million square meters by the end of 2020 and by about 3 million sq m within the next three years.

Ten well-known enterprises have set up regional headquarters in the district this year, and the district hopes that some Fortune Global 500 and multinational companies will also set up regional headquarters in its high-end commercial buildings.

From January to October, Shinan delegations visited 1,229 enterprises in Beijing, Shanghai and Guangdong province, signing 530 project deals and attracting six experts to the district.

In addition, the district has established 10 research institutes and 68 innovative platforms related to marine science and technology.

A national biological resource center for the marine fishing industry will also be constructed by the end of this year and begin operating in 2020. It is expected to become China's largest integrated service platform and resource center for research related to marine fishing.
