North China’s Baotou records export, import growth

The city of Baotou in North China’s Inner Mongolia autonomous region reported strong growth in the first 10 months of 2019, with the value of imports and exports coming in at 15.78 billion yuan ($2.24 billion), according to the Baotou Daily.

The total represented a year-on-year increase of 15.6 percent and accounted for 17.4 percent of the total value of exports and imports of the autonomous region, officials said.

It secured Baotou second place among the leagues and cities in the autonomous region.

The volume of exports was worth 8.12 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 2.1 percent. Imports were worth 7.66 million yuan, for a year-on-year decrease of 34.6 percent.

General trading accounted for the lion’s share of the total value of exports and imports.

The total import and export value of general trading in Baotou during the first 10 months period was 14.87 billion yuan, an increase of 13.2 percent, accounting for 94.2 percent of the total value of exports and imports.

The major export countries during the period included South Korea, Vietnam, Saudi Arabia, Japan and the Philippines.

Officials said the major import countries included Australia, the US, Mongolia, South Africa and Russia.
