Three Baotou projects win regional sci-tech awards

A total of three projects based in the Baotou Rare Earth High-Tech Industrial Development Zone in Baotou, in North China’s Inner Mongolia autonomous region, have won autonomous region-level awards for scientific and technological advancement.

That’s according to a list recently released by the People’s Government of Inner Mongolia.

The NTE200 Electric Wheel Mining Dump Truck Development Project, developed by Inner Mongolia North Heavy Industries Group, won a second award for scientific and technological advancement.

The High Performance NdFeB Magnet for the MRI Development Project, developed by the National Engineering Research Center of Rare Earth Metallurgy and Function Materials and the High-frequency Permanent Magnet Motor High-performance Low-vortex Sintered NdFeB Magnetic Steel Manufacturing Technology Project, developed by Baotou Jinshan Magnetic Material Co, won third prizes for scientific and technological advancement.

Local officials said that in recent years, Inner Mongolia has actively implemented innovation-driven development strategies.

It has also introduced a series of policies and measures to encourage scientific and technological innovation, which has greatly stimulated the enthusiasm for innovation of personnel in the field.

Officials said the award-winning projects demonstrated strong technological innovation ability, a high level of technology, strong competitiveness and high degree of industrialization.

They added they also payed close attention to the combination of production, teaching and research -- and carried out technical research based on industry needs.
