Yantai home to five newly-listed national key cultural relics

A total of five sites in Yantai, East China's Shandong province have been designated as national key cultural relic protection sites, according to a list released on Oct 16.

The list consists of 762 sites, covering ancient tombs, stone carvings, and an array of other ancient and modern historical sites and iconic buildings.

The five listed sites in Yantai include the Qiujiazhuang village relics in Fushan district, which can be dated back to the Neolithic Age, and Quchang ancient site in Zhaoyuan, which dates back to the Western Zhou Dynasty (c.11th century-771 BC).

The Wulin Christian church, founded in 1872 in Penglai, Muping mercy hospice and the Zhaotuan mine warfare site in Haiyang were also listed.

A total of 35 sites in Shandong province were included in the recent list. To date, Yantai has a total of 22 national key cultural relics.
