Children's Hospital of Chongqing Medical University is a national 3A-grade comprehensive children's hospital featuring medical treatment, teaching and scientific research. The hospital was set up in 1956 when the pediatrics department of Shanghai Medical College at that time moved from Shanghai to Chongqing.
The hospital employs more than 3,500 staff members, with 26 doctoral supervisors, 180 master's supervisors, 268 with senior titles and 14 who enjoy the special government allowance.
It has two campuses, Yuzhong and Lijia, and more than 1,700 patient beds. The annual patient number of outpatient and emergency departments amounted to 2.91 million in 2017 and the patient number of inpatient departments reached 79,700. About 40 percent of patients were from outside Chongqing.
The hospital has 42 clinical departments and medical laboratories. The departments of critical care, respiratory, neonatology, surgery and clinical nursing are listed among national key specialty construction projects. It also has a range of national leading techniques such as liver transplants, interventional diagnosis and treatment of congenital heart disease, epilepsy surgery and minimally invasive surgery.
In recent years, the hospital has been devoting great efforts in carrying out international cooperation and communication with overseas universities and scientific institutions including Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center in the United States.
