By the end of 2017, the total length of highways in Anhui was 203,000 kilometers, ranking eighth in the country. In 2018, 163 km of expressways and 713 km of first-class highways were built in the province. By the end of 2018, the length of expressways open to traffic was 4,836 km, and of first-class highways was 4,864 km.

Anhui will increase investment in infrastructure in rural areas, and continually improve rural transport infrastructure. More rural highways and endangered bridges will be rebuilt and transformed this year.

By 2020, it is expected that the province's total length of expressways will surpass 5,200 km, and the traffic capacity of national and provincial trunk highways will be further improved.
