The first smart garbage sorting bin in Quzhou, East China's Zhejiang province, was put into service on July 17.

With built-in facial recognition, all the information about Quzhou residents has been put into the facial image capturing system of the garbage sorting bin.

Local residents just need to hold their faces in front of the corresponding boxes of the garbage bin and then dump their waste into it. Such behavior will be recorded by a cloud platform, which will be supervised, traced and evaluated.

The smart garbage sorting bin includes four different boxes. The green box is for perishable garbage, blue for recyclables, red for hazardous waste, and gray for other garbage.

The recyclables are also subdivided into mental, paper, textile, plastics, and glass.

The smart garbage sorting bin has been piloted in three local villages in Qujiang district and soon will be available in more nearby villages.
