Chengdu University of Traditional Chinese Medicine

Chengdu University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, founded in 1956 under the approval of the State Council, was one of the earliest TCM universities in China. It received its current name in 1995.

The university currently has four campuses across Chengdu, covering a total area of 1,800 mu (120 hectares).

By March 2019, the university had 19 departments, offering 34 majors for bachelor degrees, of which four are national-level key disciplines, six are national characteristic specialties, and 44 are provincial key disciplines.

It also hosts three postdoctoral research stations, three doctoral degree programs for first-rank disciplines, 27 doctoral degree programs for second-rank disciplines, nine master's degree programs for first-rank disciplines, and 70 master's degree programs for second-rank disciplines.

The university currently has 24,000 full-time students, and more than 600 teaching staff members with senior titles, of whom 92 enjoy the governmental special allowance awarded by the State Council.

The university now boasts six directly affiliated hospitals, has jointly built affiliated hospitals, 18 indirectly affiliated hospitals, 30 teaching hospitals, and 34 training hospitals.

Since the 13th Five-Year Plan (2016-20), the university has undertaken 1,570 scientific research projects, including 177 national-level ones funded by the National Natural Science Foundation, and the National Social Science Fund. It won 74 awards at all levels, including one first prize and one second prize of the National Teaching Achievement, and six first and 11 second prizes in the Sichuan Provincial Scientific and Technological Progress Awards.

The university has been strengthening its international communication and cooperation in recent years and has become an important window for cultural and academic exchanges with foreign countries in Sichuan province.

It has set up close partnerships with medical colleges and universities and scientific research institutions in 32 countries and regions, including the United Kingdom, the United States, Australia, and Thailand.

Branch campuses of the university were also built up in Malaysia, Montenegro, Germany, Spain, and Republic of Belarus.
