Wuliangye Yibin Co Ltd is a super large State-owned enterprise, which is mainly involved in the liquor industry, but also covers fields such as modern manufacturing, industrial packaging, photoelectric glass, modern logistics, rubber products and pharmacy products.
The Wuliangye Industrial Park, covering 12 square kilometers, is the world's largest production base with the best environment for making distilled liquor, and is a national 4A-level tourist attraction.
The enterprise has the largest number of ancient pits with the longest duration of service in the country, some of which were built during the reign of Emperor Hongwu (1368-98) of the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644).
It also boasts the world's largest monomer brewing workshop, with an annual white liquor production capacity of 200,000 tons and raw liquor storage capacity of 400,000 tons.
In 2018, the sales revenue of the enterprise reached 93.1 billion yuan ($13.5 billion), a year-on-year increase of 16 percent. The total assets were 121.3 billion yuan, an increase of 18 percent over the previous year.
Wuliangye is a luxury white spirit from China made from a blend of five organic ingredients – broomcorn, glutinous rice, rice, wheat and corn – delivering a unique aroma and taste. It was originally created during the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644) and got its present name in 1909.
The traditional wine-making techniques of Wuliangye were listed as a national intangible cultural heritage in 2008.
