Wuhan French International School (EFIW) was the first international school to have registered at the Department of Education of Hubei.

Wuhan has attracted the most investment from France of any area on the Chinese mainland, dealing with over 80 French companies. More than 1,000 French people live in Wuhan.

Located in the Wuhan Economic and Technological Development Zone, the school offers French education to foreign students aged 2 to 17. Not only will they study French courses, they will also have courses in Chinese and English, allowing them to have a multicultural overseas education experience.

The school, the major French school open to foreign students of all nationalities in Central China, opened in September 2008. The French Consulate in Wuhan supported the school's opening. Currently the campus covers 30,000 square meters, with a capacity of 300 students.

According to the French consul-general in Wuhan, starting in September 2016, students from Ecole MLF/PSA de Wuhan, the school of PSA Peugeot Citroen Company, have joined students at the Wuhan French International School (EFIW).
