The Chinese Ministry of Industry and Information Technology issued 5G licenses to China's four major carriers on June 6, marking the official entry of 5G into China.

The four operators - China Telecom, China Mobile, China Unicom, and China Broadcasting Network - will be able to formally build a commercial 5G network in China.

China Mobile and China Unicom have revealed 40 domestic cities, including Anhui's provincial capital of Hefei, as the first batch to carry 5G services within the year.

The unveiled city list covers major economic areas in China with strong potential to promote 5G construction, including four municipalities of China and 27 provincial capitals as well as Xiongan New Area.

With 5G services, the cities will be able to further integrate 5G technology with vertical industries, which will help drive technological innovation, embrace industrial upgrades and boost high-quality economic growth.
