As the origin of Chinese cherries, Tianbao town in Tai'an, East China's Shandong province has a history of more than 1,000 years of cherry cultivation.

According to a local official, the town is now home to more than 50,000 acres of cherries, with more than 30 varieties. The town was designated as "the No 1 cherry town in China" in 1998 by an agricultural specialty committee of the Ministry of Agriculture.

Nowadays, with the rapid development of e-commerce, Tianbao cherries have joined online sales platforms, linking orchardists and clients together, while substantially increasing the incomes of local orchard workers.
