Zhongshan Hospital Affiliated to Xiamen University

Zhongshan Hospital, affiliated to Xiamen University, founded in 1928 with the help from donations from patriotic overseas Chinese and local celebrities, has developed a 3A-grade comprehensive hospital integrating medical service, teaching, scientific research, prevention and healthcare.

The headquarters of Zhongshan Hospital covers an area of approximately 57,000 square meters and the construction area is about 171,000 sq m. It currently has 2,500 available beds. In 2016, the annual number of outpatients and emergency visits reached 2.42 million and the annual inpatients number amounted to nearly 63,000.

A total of more than 2,900 staff members are employed and 568 of them hold deputy senior or higher titles. The Hospital has set up 38 clinical departments, 10 medical technique departments, two branches and five community health service centers.

Department of gastroenterology is listed as one of the national key clinical departments and 10 other departments are named as provincial key clinical departments such as hepatopancreatobiliary, general surgery, vascular surgery, pediatric surgery, rehabilitation and dermatology.

A new building for outpatient departments and emergency departments started construction in December 2016 with a design building area of 81,310 sq m. The new building was expected to receive 8,000 to 10,000 patients every day. It provides 430 patient beds and 455 parking spaces.

The hospital is equipped with the world’s leading equipment such as color spectrum CT, high-end energy spectrum CT, Gamma knife for the head, linear accelerator, single photon emission computed tomography scanner and double plate digital subtraction angiography X-ray machine.

Fujian province is a pioneer in conducting surgeries such as heart transplantation, hematopoietic stem cell transplantation, artificial liver support and stereotactic radiotherapy for tumors.
