Southern Medical University Hospital of Stomatology has been managed by Southern Medical University since Jan 1, 2017. It is a provincial-level stomatological hospital integrating medical treatment, teaching, scientific research and prevention. It was also one of the first five major clinical stomatological hospitals established in China.

The hospital has four branches and 997 faculty members, including 150 with senior titles. It has 318 comprehensive dental treatment chairs The annual outpatient volume is nearly 700,000 person-times, and more than 80,000 operations are carried out there each year.

The hospital has a domestic first-class dental implant center, which has treated more than 10,000 patients since it began clinical research on oral implants in 1974.

The periodontology department is rated second in the country and was awarded as a national key specialist, being in the first batch of national clinical key specialties. Meanwhile, the orthodontic treatment center and the cleft lip and palate treatment center are also leading specialists with comprehensive scale and technical strength.

Every year since 1995, the hospital has held the annual South China International Oral Technology Seminar. It has also undertaken the ASEAN Oral Medical Technology Training Course for three years. The hospital was in the first batch of 40 national-level resident standardized training bases in Guangdong province, and is a national medical qualification examination testing base and examiner training base.
