Founded in 1950, Huadu District People's Hospital of Guangzhou is affiliated to Southern Medical University. It has three campuses, including the general hospital, Baohua Campus and Tianmei Campus. It is the only 3A-grade hospital in Huadu district which integrates medical, teaching, scientific research, preventive healthcare and rehabilitation. 

The hospital has 1,020 open beds and 1,919 employees, including 1,539 professional technicians and 245 senior professional titles. The hospital has 33 clinical departments and nine medical technology departments. By the first half of 2016, the hospital had applied for 30 patents, and published 66 academic papers in national and provincial medical journals. In 2018, the hospital had 1,624,294 total visits, including 159,760 emergency visits, 47,133 hospital discharges, and an average hospital stay of 7.76 days. 

The hospital undertakes clinical internship tasks for students in multiple medical colleges. In 2016, 197 interns were received, including 85 clinical medical intern trainees and 112 nursing interns. 

The hospital established the first internet hospital in Huadu district in 2015, offering services such as online appointment registration, intelligent consultations, payments and result inquiries. The hospital has installed 40 self-service machines for patients to make appointments and register in advance. The hospital has also introduced more than 30 working systems for electronic medical records, pharmacist and surgical anesthesia workstations, improving hospital work efficiency and the quality of medical management.
