Sanyuesan Festival

The Sanyuesan Festival is the largest traditional festival of the Li and Miao people in Hainan province, and takes place every year on the third day of the third month of the lunar calendar.

The large celebration features singing and dancing performances, traditional sports and skills competitions, exhibitions of Li and Miao art and handicrafts, and plenty of tasty local cuisine.

In recent years, the festival has blended with the International Coconut Festival. There are campfire songs, bamboo dancing, dragon boat racing, archery contests, and opportunities for young Li men and women to court one another in an attempt to find love and happiness.
