Healthcare industry sees steady development in Hefei high-tech zone

The Hefei National High-tech Industry Development Zone has attracted over 400 enterprises in the healthcare industry, forming an industrial cluster for biomedicine and high-end medical equipment industries.

This year, the zone has launched 30 healthcare big data projects worth 12.5 billion yuan ($1.86 billion), ranging from genetic testing and biomedicine to medical equipment.

As the core area of the National Healthcare Big Data Center, the zone has developed a complete industrial chain covering research and development, manufacturing, commercial businesses, medical treatment and health services.

The industrial chain, with leading enterprises such as Ankebio Corp, focuses on the development of emerging enterprises, and gains innovative resources from research institutes in the zone.

Gaining solid support from local government, a township with an emphasis on the development of the healthcare industry in the zone was listed as a characteristic town of Hefei city, Anhui province, on Jan 3.
