With the approach of spring, the time to enjoy beautiful natural scenery is coming closer. Yantai in East China's Shandong province, located in hilly areas, boasts numerous forest resources. Climbing mountains on weekends is a good way to escape from the noisy city and enjoy silence and peace, as well as get some exercise.

Here are some recommended places for mountain climbing in the city.

Nanshan Mountain

Nanshan Mountain, with a highest elevation of 480 meters, is a comprehensive resort area integrating religion, folk culture, tourism and business, shopping and leisure, food and accommodation, as well as physical activities and entertainment. The national 5A-level Longkou Nanshan Tourist Resort was built on the mountain in 2010.

Located at Longkou, a county-level city in Yantai, the tourist resort can be divided into three scenic spots: a religious culture park, a theme park and the Donghai tourist resort.

The Nanshan Giant Buddha in the religious culture park is the world's largest bronze Buddha (38.66 meters high and weighing 380 tons). A museum covering an area of 1,800 square meters, displays the origin of Buddhism in India, its spread and localization in China, and its influence on China's traditional culture through pictures, cultural relics and words.

Happy Valley theme park has many scenic spots, including an equestrian club, a pet park and a waterfall square. Donghai Tourism Resort, with a coastline of 20 kilometers, is a comprehensive center for cultural experiences, sightseeing, recreation and exercise. The Nanshan Yacht Club there was the first yacht club in Yantai.
