Construction of a total of 38 projects worth 43.8 billion yuan ($6.5 billion) started on Feb 28 in Quzhou, East China's Zhejiang province, as part of a provincial ground breaking ceremony.

Xu Wenguang, secretary of the CPC Quzhou Municipal Party Committee, gave an account of the city's major projects to the main provincial venue in Hangzhou.

The 38 projects involve transportation, garden city construction, and modern service industries.

Some 8.76-kilometer road will be paved and 6.89-km road will be renovated for villages in Qujiang district, which will reduce the journey by car from the district's villages to downtown by more than 40 minutes.

The second phase of the Culture and Art Center in Jiangshan, a county-level city in Quzhou, contains a culture center, a library, a theatre, a youth center and a women and children center, which will play an important role in Jiangshan's public cultural activities.

The Zhejiang JW Machinery Co invested 1.6 billion yuan in production lines of bearing rings, auto parts and engineering equipment in Kecheng district. After being put into operation, the production lines will manufacture 1.2 billion high-precision bearing rings and auto parts with an expected sale revenue of 2.1 billion yuan.
