Xi'an International Studies University

Xi'an International Studies University is one of the first four foreign language colleges established in New China. It is the only university in the northwest with a complete range of foreign languages. In 2011, it was listed as a high-level university under the “Twelfth Five-Year Plan” period by the Shaanxi Provincial People's Government.

The school covers an area of 1,593 acres and the building area is 801,000 square meters. It has a modern classroom with intelligent classroom, multi-language translation experiment teaching center, international financial investment and business comprehensive simulation experiment teaching center, Northeast Asia research multi-modal laboratory, collaborative innovation laboratory, and the classroom multimedia facilities rate is 100 percent. The library collection covers 46 languages, including Chinese, English, French, Russian, German, Spanish, Japanese, and Arabic. There are 1607 Chinese and foreign newspapers and periodicals, and 39 Chinese and foreign literature databases.

The school has 22 colleges (departments) and other teaching institutions, with a first-level degree authorization point for Doctor degree of Foreign Languages and Literatures, 13 second-level doctoral programs and a post-doctoral research station, and it cooperates with eight universities abroad to train doctoral students. There are 20,000 doctoral students, master students, undergraduates, foreign students and various types of training students.

The School of Chinese Studies of Xi'an International Studies University is the first institution specializing in teaching Chinese as a foreign language in Northwest China. The College began recruiting foreign students in 1979. Since 1998, it has enrolled undergraduate Chinese majors. In the past 40 years, more than 18,500 international students from 37 countries including the United States, United Kingdom, France, Japan, and South Korea have returned from Xi'an International Studies University.
