The Yuexiu Lantern Festival, held in Yuexiu Park during the Spring Festival every year, is an important part of the Guangzhou New Year flower market and the Yuexiu Temple Fair. It has been held for seven consecutive years and has received nearly 10 million visitors. It has become a new folk custom of the Lunar New Year for people in Guangzhou to start a city tour, visit flower markets, watching lanterns, and celebrate the reunion with family and friends.

There are many lantern groups with special Chinese characteristics, such as the Chinese 24 solar terms and Chinese zodiac. This year’s lanterns are environmentally friendly, incorporating many waste discs and mineral water bottles. The most anticipated will feature Ao’yu, the mascot of the Yuexiu Temple Fair, which will debut at the festival.

Address: Yuexiu Park, 998 North Jiefang Road, Guangzhou
