The First Affiliated Hospital of Hainan Medical College

Founded in 1973, the First Affiliated Hospital of Hainan Medical College, is a general hospital committed to delivering state-of-the-art clinical care, innovative scientific research, and advanced medical education. The hospital is well known for its rich experience in the prevention and treatment of diseases concerning fertility, genetics, tumors, and the nervous system.

Covering an area of 90 mu (6 hectares), the hospital received about 1.2 million in-patients and performed over 14,500 surgical operations in 2016. Among its 2,377 employees, 2,071 are professional and technical personnel, 427 have vice- level titles or above and 328 have obtained masters' degrees or above.

The First Affiliated Hospital of Hainan Medical College consists of 57 business departments, 25 administrative departments, 17 teaching and research offices, and five research institutions. It houses four national key clinical specialties: emergency medicine, oncology, traditional Chinese medicine for liver and gall diseases, and acupuncture.

Also focusing on 13 provincial key disciplines and specialties, the hospital runs four provincial medical centers, three provincial key laboratories, two municipal key laboratories, one medical postdoctoral research workstation and one academician workstation approved by the provincial government. It is the major clinical training base of Hainan Medical College in the provincial capital, Haikou.

The 3A-grade medical institute, the highest possible level in China's grading system for public hospitals, ranked second in Hainan province, according to the "2016 China's Hospital Rankings" published by the Hospital Management Institute and Fudan University in Shanghai.
