Zizhu National Hi-Tech Industrial Development Zone

Founded in June 2002, Zizhu National Hi-Tech Industrial Development Zone was co-invested by seven shareholders, including the People's Government of Minhang District, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Zijiang Holdings and Shanghai Alliance Investment Co.

The hi-tech zone consists of three sections, namely the University Park, a R&D base and the supporting area. It is a major component in Shanghai's plan of "building a technological innovation center with global influence." The zone ranked 14th among all the state-level development zones of 2017.

To date, the hi-tech zone has fostered many pillar industries covering information, software, digital audiovisual, life sciences, aviation electronics, clean energy, new material and smart manufacturing. The world's top 500 multinationals, such as Intel, Microsoft, Coca Cola and Exxon Mobil, have established R&D centers or regional headquarters in the area.

By the end of 2017, Zizhu National Hi-Tech Industrial Development Zone have attracted over 1,600 enterprises. The industrial output totaled 13.45 billion yuan ($1.95 billion), with a sales revenue recorded 51.62 billion yuan and a tax revenue reaching 6.23 billion yuan. The profits of industrial enterprises alone were 2.13 billion yuan.
