Haining Economic Development Zone was established in Haining, Zhejiang province, in August 1992 and was approved as a provincial-level development zone in 1997.

Haining city is located in the southern wing of the Yangtze River Delta, with the Shanghai-Hangzhou Railway, and the Shanghai-Hangzhou, Hangzhou-Pudong and Shaoxing-Jiaxing expressways running through the city area. It is 120 kilometers from Shanghai, 60 km from Hangzhou and 90 km away from Suzhou, and has a planned area of 54 square kilometers.

Known as China’s textile industry base, the zone focuses on the development of home textiles, leather and warp knitting. It also has mechanical equipment industrial parks and auto parts markets.

By March 2018, there were more than 2,470 enterprises in the region, including more than 200 companies founded by foreign capital. Twenty projects with investment of more than $30 million were introduced to the local industry. It also attracted investments from Fortune 500 companies such as COFCO, COSCO Group and Itochu, and cultivated various listed companies, including Anzheng and Murong.
