Figures reveal Zhuhai's dazzling foreign trade achievements

Zhuhai's vibrant growth over the past year was made evident through a series of spectacular economic achievements and innovative breakthroughs, further demonstrating its status as a special economic zone during the 40th anniversary of Reform & Opening-up policy.

Zhuhai Daily published a list of economic figures that demonstrated the city's rapid development.

For example, the total value of the city's foreign trade reached 302 billion yuan ($44 billion) in 2018, a year-on-year increase of 18.2 percent, ranking second and third, respectively, in Guangdong Province. This impressive development can be partially attributed to robust import growth, which rose 28.5 percent to 128 billion yuan.

Meanwhile, 3,742 foreign-funded enterprises (a rise of 193 percent from the previous year) set up operations in the city to benefit from its ever-improving policies. Foreign direct investment in the city amounted to $2.4 billion, according to official statistics from the Zhuhai Commerce Bureau.

There are currently 3,011 import and export enterprises in Zhuhai, trading with 223 countries and regions around the world. Zhuhai Economic & Trade Representative Offices in Malaysia, Israel, Germany, the United States, and Hong Kong have played an active role in promoting Zhuhai's business environment and attracting investment.
