Fund, foundation created for Quzhou school by old teacher

Ye Simao, born in Quzhou, Zhejiang province, has donated 1 million yuan ($145,000) to local Kaihua Middle School to create a fund and a foundation, according to local media reports on Dec 13.

Ye is the granddaughter of Ye Zuowen, the first teacher in Kaihua Middle School and a renowned expert in the history of the Song Dynasty. She is also an old girl of the Kaihua school and used to be a researcher in the Health Science Center of Peking University.

The newly-built foundation will be responsible for the operation of the Ye Zuowen Education Assistance Fund.

Some 80,000 yuan from the fund is expected to be used for rewarding students excellent in behavior and learning and outstanding teachers in the Kaihua school each year.
