China General Technology (Group) Holding Co Ltd is a wholly state-owned company and a major backbone enterprise administrated by the Central Government. It was launched by grouping six subordinate companies of the former Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Cooperation in March 1998.
The Group has recombined five enterprises under the Central Government's administration and some local key enterprises since 2006. Now, it has 63 outlets overseas and 21 secondary companies in China, including three listed ones -- China Meheco (600056.SH), CAERI (601965.SH) and Universal Medical (02666.HK).
The Group's business covers trade and engineering contracting, medical and health care, technical consultation and advanced manufacturing and it boasts a group of professionals with various backgrounds and abundant experience. It has established long-term strategic cooperation with large enterprises and financial organizations at home and broad.
As the major channel for importing national key technology and equipment, the Group has brought in advanced technologies and equipment worth $340 billion in the past 60 plus years.
The Group has been actively implementing the going-global strategy and deeply getting involved in the "Belt and Road" construction, bring Chinese standards, technologies and equipment to the global market. It has finished international projects concerning power energy, rail transportation and infrastructural facilities with a total contract value of $11 billion.
It has cooperated with more than 20 countries and regions on production capacity in various areas, such as light industry & textile, chemical & building materials, and shipbuilding. With mature management and complete marketing and logistics network at home and abroad, it has trade relations with over 100 countries and regions.
It has been graded as an A-level state-owned enterprise for eight consecutive years from 2009 to 2016 and granted the "Enterprise with Outstanding Performance" Award for two consecutive terms. Its managerial team was awarded as "Excellent Leadership" among similar enterprises in China for the 2013 - 2015 period.
The Group has been included in the Fortune Global 500 companies for four years since 2014 and the list of the top 100 global engineering design enterprises released by Engineering News Record (ENR) for six consecutive years since 2012.
