SAFEA administrator meets with mayor of Cologne

Zhang Jianguo, deputy minister of Science and Technology and administrator of the State Administration of Foreign Experts Affairs (SAFEA), met with Henriette Reker, mayor of the city of Cologne, Germany, in Beijing on Oct 27.

The two sides will strengthen exchange of professionals in scientific and technological innovation between China and Germany.

Zhang welcomed the delegation’s visit on the 40th anniversary of the Sino-German Intergovernmental Science and Technology Cooperation Agreement. He introduced new changes in the functions of the Ministry of Science and Technology and the SAFEA after institutional reform, and said that the scientific and technological innovations and international talent exchanges between China and Germany will be integrated more closely.

In recent years, the SAFEA and the municipal government of Cologne have sponsored a series of visits by German experts to China, and carried out overseas training programs in Germany in the fields of environmental governance and urban management.

Henriette Reker spoke highly of the current exchanges and cooperation between the two sides in various fields, and said that the Cologne government will further promote future exchanges and cooperation with SAFEA.
