World Musical Culture Museum, located in Zhongshan district of Dalian, Northeast China's Liaoning province, is the first museum in the country to display both Chinese and Western musical cultures.

Covering 3,000 square meters, the museum houses more than 2,000 items of ancient musical instruments, music boxes, phonographs and important documents regarding music, as well as more than 300,000 antique records, which fully present the history of world music culture and the development of sound recording and transmission equipment.

More than 300 items at the museum are precious and rare.

The museum has eight exhibition halls – a Chinese music culture hall, a Western music culture hall, an organ and piano hall, a music box and phonograph hall, a musician and record hall, a radio hall, a sound technology listening hall, and a cultural and creative product hall.

Zhang Jingxuan, president of Dalian Digital Audio Sound Enterprise and the founder of the museum, visited the estate of the inventor of the phonograph, Thomas Edison (1847-1931), in the United States several times and acquired dozens of items once owned by Edison, which are now displayed at the museum.

Other precious pieces include a John Broadwood grand piano made in the United Kingdom in 1782, a harmonium made in Canada in 1868, and old records featuring Teresa Teng (1953-1995), a famous Taiwan singer.

The museum opened to the public on May 18, 2018, International Museum Day.

It will also introduce top-notch technologies such as 3D projection and holographic projection, to reproduce scenes from musical plays and performances.

The museum is committed to developing into a world-renowned musical culture transmission platform.
