Dalian Laodong Park is the biggest park in downtown Dalian, Northeast China’s Liaoning province, covering an area of 1.02 million square meters. It is the favorite park of local residents.

The park was initially built in 1898 when the city came under the territorial control of Russia. After the founding of the People’s Republic of China in 1949, the government encouraged local citizens to voluntarily make improvements in the park and renamed the park “Laodong Park” (“laodong” means labor in English).

Many city landmarks are located in the park, including Dalian sightseeing tower, Dalian Century Warehouse, a football-shaped art museum and a giant historical blessing bell. The sightseeing tower with an admission ticket price of 50 yuan ($7.27) provides the best location to take in Dalian’s views from 360 meters above ground.

In spring, visitors can enjoy all kinds of flowers blooming in the park, especially Sophora Japonicas and tulips, which are widely grown in the park. In winter, it offers a large amount of snow for skiing enthusiasts, the only location of its kind in the city center.

There are also many amusement facilities in the park, like roller coasters, bumper cars and river rafting.
