CRH locomotives developed by CRRC Dalian Locomotives & Rolling Stock Co 

CRRC Dalian Locomotive & Rolling Stock Co was originally founded in 1899 in Dalian, Liaoning province. It’s the only State-owned company that not only develops but also exports diesel locomotives, electric locomotives, engines and urban rail vehicles.

The company annually produces 600 locomotives, 700 urban rail vehicles and 500 high-power engines, as well as repairs 400 locomotives.

As of the end of February, 2018, the company had produced 11,200 locomotives of 10 types, accounting for half of the nation’s total.

The company occupies an area of 900,000 square meters while a new base in Lushun district of 2.35 million square meters is under construction. It now has 8,467 employees with total assets of 19 billion yuan ($2.77 billion).

Since China’s reform and opening-up, CRRC Dalian Co has always maintained exchanges and cooperation with foreign companies with focuses on both technologies introduction and innovation. Ricardo plc in the United Kingdom, Southwest Research Institute (SwRI) in the United States, Bombardier Inc in Canada, Germany’s Knorr-Bremse, Japan’s Toshiba Corporation and Italy’s Ansaldo Energia are all the company’s cooperative partners.

The company also vigorously implements the “going out” strategy. Since it exported the first locomotives in the international market in 1993, the company has so far accumulatively exported 700 locomotives to 24 countries, including New Zealand, South Africa, Argentina, Uzbekistan, Malaysia and Angola, and 400 urban rail vehicles to four countries. 

In the future, CRRC Dalian Co will strive to make more breakthroughs based on its previous achievements, in order to build itself into an internationally renowned company.
