Tianjin adheres to the new concept of development and promotes high- quality development. The rapid growth of emerging industries is becoming a new boost for economic development. In 2017, the added value of strategic emerging industries above designated size in Tianjin rose by 3.9 percent, which was 1.6 percentage points higher than the industrial growth of the city; the added value of high-tech industries increased by 10.4 percent, higher than the city's industrial growth rate by 8.1 percentage points, with a 64.6 percent contribution rate

to the city's industrial growth.

New businesses and new modes thrived. A number of company headquarters including Mobike’s Shared Bicycles settled in Tianjin, and many emerging companies such as Didi Travel developed rapidly in Tianjin. In the service industry above designated size, the revenue of strategic emerging service sectors and high-tech service sectors increased by 30.2 percent and 15.8 percent respectively.

By 2020, strategic emerging industries will become the major boost for the sustained, sound economic and social development in Tianjin, and Tianjin will become an important center and source of strategic emerging industries.

New pillars for economic development will be formed. The total output of strategic emerging industries in the city will reach 1.5 trillion CNY, and the added value of strategic emerging industries will account for 20 percent of the city's GDP. A number of high-end industrial chains and clusters will come into being, such as high-end equipment, new-generation information technology, aerospace, new energy, new materials, etc.

New advantages will emerge from the agglomeration of enterprises. A number of big corporate groups with international influence, together with small and medium-sized enterprises enthusiastic for innovations, will be cultivated. A number of advantageous industry groups featuring coordinated development of SMEs will be created.
